Microsuction Ear Wax Removal
At The Ear Luxe Clinic, your microsuction ear wax removal appointment includes a full ear inspection, safe removal of wax, and personalised ear health advice for both ears.
Every appointment is tailored to the individual. Depending on your needs, a combination of professional tools may be used to safely remove ear wax, including:
- A medical-grade microsuction unit

- Cerumenolytic solutions to help soften ear wax

What to Expect During Microsuction
Microsuction uses a small suction device to carefully remove ear wax from the ear canal. You may notice a suction sound during the procedure — this is completely normal.
In some cases, ear wax may be very hard or impacted, or the ear canal may be inflamed or swollen. If this occurs, the procedure may feel slightly uncomfortable. When this happens, we may recommend softening the wax with olive oil drops for 3–7 days before returning for a follow-up appointment, making removal easier and more comfortable.

Microsuction is a safe and effective technique suited to a variety of situations, including:
- Impacted or excessive ear wax

- Foreign objects in the ear canal
- Patients with a perforated eardrum

Preparing for Your Appointment
To help make ear wax removal easier, you can use olive oil drops in the ear canal for three days before your appointment — as long as there’s no known eardrum perforation.
Softening the wax beforehand can help the procedure be quicker and more comfortable.
What if I do not have any wax?
Consultation Policy
If you attend an appointment and no ear wax is present that requires removal, a $30 consultation fee will apply. This covers the ear examination and professional assessment carried out during your visit.
